Stories
A story, written as a first person account of the thief on the cross from Luke 23. I used it as a message at our Easter Dawn service. It could be a monologue, drama script, etc. Written by Dave Weiss. All glory goes to God everything good I've ever created is His.
Character:Not just a word in theater. It's who you are when no one is looking.
Our Identity is who we are in Him not what we do for Him. For a lot of believers we are so drawn to doing, doing, doing and we get so caught up with people recognizing us as believers or as artists because of what we do. ŒAccolades¹ and Œpats on the back¹ are not bad things but as artists we cannot let that help build a foundation being for an idol in our lives.
Writer's Prompts
These are bried ideas designed to jumpstart your creativity
I Love to Tell the Story
There is one story that only you can tell, and telling that story is a big part of your mission from God. The story is what Jesus has done in your life. What have you been rescued from? What is your purpose? How has His touch changed your life? Be as accurate and truthful as possible. What can a person learn from what God has done in you? How can it impact them?
Here is another spin on this idea. Write a fictional account of where you would have ended up had Jesus not intervened and then tell the truthful account of how He spared you and how He set you free.
The Prodigal
Look up and read the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-31). Flesh out and write the story from the point of view of the prodigal son, the father, the older brother. Remember, when writing a biblical story to be as faithful to the Lord's intent for the story as possible. What would your character be thinking and experiencing as he goes through the experiences described in the story? Who do the people in the story represent? What was Jesus' point in telling this story? What should the reader take away from your story? Could the story be set in a different time, for example, how would Jesus tell this story today?
The Best Day of My Life.
Write a story telling someone about the best day you¹ve had in your life. Be descriptive. Tell about your feelings. Be sure to cover the who, what, where, when and why. Talk about how God was involved in your great day. Write on how this day changed your outlook on life, if it did. Talk about any hope this day gives you, etc.
The Worst Day of My Life.
Write a story telling someone about the worst day you¹ve had in your life. Be descriptive. Tell about your feelings. Be sure to cover the who, what, where, when and why. Talk about how God was with you on this bad day. Write on how this day changed your outlook on life, if it did. Look up and read Romans 8:28. Can you see how this verse might apply to this bad day? If so write it down.
My Testimony.
Write about the difference that Jesus has made in your life. Talk about what He saved you from. How has He changed you? What is it that you want to do for Him? What are your prayers? What questions do you want to ask Him when you meet Him face to face? How does knowing Jesus give you strength?
