A.M.O.K. Prayer Lesson
Recently my denomination put out a call for student art work under the theme of "What I pray for" to go along with an annual conference theme of "In Jesus' Name." This sparked an idea for not just an art project but also a lesson and a prayer journal.
I based the lesson part of the evening on the ACTS model (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication). Since some of these words may have been unfamiliar to the group, I added a Bible verse to each concept and had them look it up. Then we talked about the meaning and finally each student listed five things they pray for. This sheet became the front page of their prayer journal.
I then cut them loose on making their piece of artwork for what I pray for. While they were working on their paintings (or drawings) I assembled a loose leaf notebook for each of them with several pages of ACTS sheets and a prayer list page. We also added several pieces of unlined paper for them to sketch out "devotional sketches."
I have also included copies of the three sheets that you can download and photocopy for your students.
